Ra is an auction and set collecting game from Reiner Knizia/ The game spans 1500 years of Ancient Egypt; through the Old, Middle and New Kingdoms. During the game, players acquire sun tokens to advance culture and technology of Egypt, influence Pharaohs, build monuments, pay homage to the Gods or Farm the Nile to gain fame and fortune. The player with the most fame and fortune at the end of the game is the winner!
On a player's turn they will do one of the following actions: Turn over a tile, Play God tiles or invoke Ra.
A turned over tile is either placed on the next empty space on the auction track or, if it is a Ra tile, the player takes the Ra figure and places the token on the next Ra track space - this triggers an auction. If a player has a God tile, they can play it to take a tile from the auction track, except for another God tile or Ra tile. Finally, a player may invoke Ra to begin an auction.
When an auction begins each player may bid their face-up sun tiles or choose to pass. The winning player will take all the tiles in the auction track helping to improve their fame and fortune across the land of Egypt.
When a player takes the auction tiles from the track, it might include disaster tiles that must be fulfilled. Funerals will make the player discard pharaohs, droughts will discard floods and Niles, unrest will loose civilisation cards and earthquakes will lose monument tiles.
When the Ra track is full the next epoch begins, if a player has no face up sun tiles during an Epoch they cannot bid any longer. At the end of an epoch, there is no auction and the auction track is cleared. At the end of each epoch, the tiles in a player's display are scored.
After the scoring of the Third Epoch, the game ends with final scoring of fame added to the final score. The player with the highest score has gained all the fame and glory for Ra!
