It is approximately 1. 5" deep from the front to the back and has a lip around the edge, so a genuine box effect. The wood can be painted to personalise the frame and the items can be easily slipped into the back of the frame by removing the solid rear cover. Perfect for scrapbooking, or displaying medals and ideal for decoupage
