Jesus prayed for us to be protected from the enemy and unified in the purpose of furthering the gospel. I’m finished, Father, bring Me Home! I set aside the display of My glory–I am about to accomplish with finality the main task You gave Me–glorify Me once again with the glory I’ve had since before the dawn of time! Keep these of ours standing firm in Your name! Give them the same unity that You and I share, so that the world will believe that You sent Me!

Jesus cried out similar thoughts to the Father in John 17 just before His betrayal and crucifixion. For His disciples and all who would come behind them believing His name, His heartbeat was for a firm stance in their walk with Him and for unity that the world would know Jesus as God.

How are your energies and passions furthering this? When we rescue the afflicted it’s so they will come to meet Jesus. When we fight for freedom it is because we know what true freedom from sin is! When we give cold water to the thirsty, it is to introduce them to the Living Water. Being restored to a right relationship with God and bringing others to the same knowledge undergirds all we are about and drives all we do.

I will stand like Esther and Mordecai in the face of danger, knowing God is my Protector!

I will cultivate humility, because my spiritual bankruptcy reminds me of my state without Jesus.

I will be courageous because then I lift high the name of my victorious Lord, and spread hope!

We can think of all the "I Will’s" in the world, but if our purpose in doing them is not in response to God’s righteousness, justice, lovingkindness and peace, we are off the mark.

This one truth resonates clearly–God has placed you on this earth today. He has given you breath. And He has given it to you to use for His purposes.

God is sovereign. God IS righteousness. God IS justice. Both for us–and regarding us–and He is doing some powerful things right now to which we would be wise to pay attention. Do not be paralyzed with fear or worry. He has not shifted or changed. Don’t huddle in a corner. Grab hold of today, embrace Jesus, and LIVE!
