Eagle Wing is a sacred blend of flower, stone, and land essences created from plants and places of deep ancestral resonance. This formula includes Cottonwood (čhaŋyáȟ’u) from Pine Ridge Reservation, Echinacea (ičháȟpe hú) from Mako Sika in the Badlands of South Dakota, Fringed Sagewort (pȟeží hóta wápe blaskáska) from Mato Paha or Bear Butte, Yarrow (tȟaópi pȟežúta) and Prairie Rose (uŋžíŋžiŋtka hú) from Pahá Sápa in the Black Hills, Buffalo (tatanka) spirit essence, and South Dakota White Quartz in a base of pure water and brandy.

I was born in Germany on my mother’s ancestral lands, far from my father’s homeland in what is now called South Dakota. Although I spent my childhood between Germany and the prairie, I did not begin to understand the depth of generational trauma experienced by Indigenous peoples of this land until I was an adult.

During the Standing Rock uprising, something ancient within me awakened. My brother called to tell me that the water protectors were gathered near the river where we used to fish as children. I felt a clear call to return, to stand with the land, and to defend her. When I arrived in the deep cold of winter, the Oceti Sakowin Camp was already covered in snow and ice. My work became tending to those who had suffered violence and trauma, both the ones protecting the water and the ones awakening to the ongoing cultural genocide facing Indigenous peoples around the world.

I had brought flower essences from other regions, yet witnessing the destruction of the prairie plants by heavy machinery pierced me with grief. In that moment I understood that the healing must come from the land itself. I began creating prairie flower essences from the plants who called me home. They became my first teachers and my elders.

The Eagle Wing Essence, short for Under the Eagle’s Wing, is the result of that long remembering. It carries the wisdom of the prairie elders, the plants, the stones, and the Buffalo Spirit. I return to these allies whenever I need direction, calm, or courage.

This essence invites you to do the same. It is a medicine for remembering your connection to the Earth, to your ancestors, and to all your relations.
