About D'addario: 

D'addario are an Amercian String Manufacture, Based in Farmingdale, New York. They can trace they're proud heritage of string manufacturing all the way back to Italy (Salle) in  the 1680's. In 1905 the family emigrated to American after an earth quake. 

The company is know for making strings but not only under the D'addario Family name. D'addario as it is today came from a merger of Martin and John D'addario to form Darco. In  the end D'addario decided to setup under the Family name in the 1970's and thus the new company was born.
