النحو: من أسمى العلوم قدرًا، وأنفعها أثرًا، إذ فهم القرآن الكريم والسُّنَّة لا يتأتى غالبًا إلا بهذا العلم الجليل، والنحو سلاح اللغوي، وعماد البلاغي، وأداة المجتهد، ووصفه السّابقون بأنه: " ميزان العربية، والقانون الذي تُحكَم به في كل صورة من صورها، وهو أشرف العلوم وأفضلها، وأعظم آلاتها وأكملها، إذ به يحفظ القرآن الذي هو حبل الله المتين، وبحفظه من اللحن تحفظ قواعد الدين". ومن أشهر المصنفات النحوية، متن الآجرومية وهو: متن لطيف، غاية في الاختصار والكياسة، بلغ مبلغاً عظيماً من الشهرة والانتشار في كل الأمصار، ووضعت له شروح كثيرة، أبرزها بل أشهرها شرح العلامة النحوي النحرير محيي الدين عبد الحميد، حيث راعى في شرحه هذا حاجة العصر إلى السهولة والوضوح والأسئلة والتدريبات والأمثلة والتمرينات، لتدريب الطلبة ومساعدتهم في ترسيخ الفكرة لديهم، فجاء هذا الشرح كافياً وافياً بابه، ومورداً صافياً لطلابه، غير مختصر اختصاراً يؤدي إلى الإخلال، ولا مطنباً إطناباً يؤدي إلى الإملال، جامعا لغرر هذا الفن وقواعده، وفرائد مسائله وفوائده، مشتملاً على المباحث هي لباب آراء النحويين من المتقدمين والمتأخرين، في تقرير قواعده، وتوضيح معانيه، وتحرير مقاصده، وينتفع به المبتدئ، ولا يستغني عنه المنتهي.
